Trim & Doors Are In!

Whew!  What a huge change!  The room is just days away from completion and I can move-out of the dining room and living room and back into my office.  Today, our contractor finished the baseboard trim, doors and updated the trim around the built-in cabinets in the living room.  I absolutely love all of the changes and I am so glad that we went through this process!  It was a very little room that needed a whole lot of work!

The French doors still need to be painted.  The plastic covering the glass will be removed once the painting is finish!

  

The Hardwood is Finished & Heated too!

The radiant heat is in and functional!  We have to wait until February to use it daily, but it is in and amazing!  Our hardwood has been stained and it looks beautiful!  The transition from the living room to the office is perfect.  It looks like hardwood was always there -which is just what we were trying to achieve!  Here a few pictures of the finished work:

 

 

The Hardwood Floor Is In!!

The hardwood floor is in and it is so beautiful!  Hats off to our contractor!  Not only did he arrive when he said he would, he finished this step in the time he promised.  Nice!  The floor is beautiful.  Hopefully, by the end of next week, we'll have stain on it.  Wait!  Did I just write that?  Oh, no.  I just jinxed us!  

The Thin Set is In!

Great news!  Our contractor arrived on time and finished the thin set!  Yippee!  THEN, our precious beagle walked through it.  AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!  After a not so quick bath, floor cleaning, bathroom cleaning, and outfit change we are back in business.  Sailor and I are spending a little time apart.  

  

Radiant Flooring is Going In! (finally!)

This has been a very long process for a very small room.  The radiant flooring was installed yesterday and today.  The electrician came out and made sure all the parts were working before sealing everything in place.  I am hopeful that the contractor will show-up (like he said he will) tomorrow (at the time he said he will) and put the Thin-Set down (like he said he will).  

Yes, we have had the case of the disappearing contractor.  He's had jury duty, he's been ill, he's been slammed with other jobs, he's gone snowmobiling, he's shown up hours (and days) from when he said he'd be here.  It doesn't help that I broke the cardinal rule of contract negotiations and paid him in full after he told me he would finish up the entire job, "that afternoon" - three weeks ago.  Yes, I learned my lesson, but at least he didn't run off without finishing the job.  He is just not in a hurry to complete a project that he's already been paid for...
