The Walls are Painted!
Our painter finished the wall color today and it looks beautiful! I wanted to go with a pale pink, but at the last minute I changed my mind. So grateful that I did. I am amazed at the difference and so happy with the results! The painter will still need to come back and finish the baseboards and new french doors, but I am so pleased with where we are at!

Let the Painting Begin!
The walls were primed today. They look amazing! The room is brighter. It feels bigger and cleaner. Tomorrow, the trim work will begin. Here are a few shots of the clean walls and woodwork.

Surprise! (in a good way)
Today, a drywaller came out to check-out our monster room. I thought she would be here for a short time, but she decided to stay and get right to work. This was a happy surprise! All the wallpaper is now down and the walls have been skim-coated. She'll be back on Monday to sand. That will be a messy day, but everything looks so much better. Here's the latest:

Movement on our Projects - But it's NOT Pretty!
We met with our architect last week and he presented us with his estimated costs for our project. Well, Brian and I literally fell off our chairs as the numbers came back $20,000 above our maximum, tippy-top, no exceptions number. We are going to revisit this project and see what we want to scale back and possibly not do both the upstairs and the downstairs at the same time. Bummer! He built in contingency dollars for worst-case scenarios should (when) we come across them in the building process. I feel pretty good about the numbers, just not too happy about the reality of them.
We are making progress on my office. An electrician came in and removed the old baseboard wires and set-up the wiring for the new radiant heat. We have a contractor and he has almost completely replaced the sub-floor. He is going to complete the job for us. I am hopeful that this will be finished by Christmas. That's my Christmas wish at least. Here are a few pictures of the new floor.
