The Plans Have Arrived!

Our architect, Daniel Bollman of East Arbor Architecture, emailed our first draft blueprints today.  After much thought and discussion, we are solidifying our planning.  It is so exciting to start to see how our home will take on a new shape.  We have really thought about how we live and what are needs are.  The next step is determining if our budget will work with the scope of the plans.  I hope so!  It will be hard to decide what gets to stay and what must go!

What is Behind Wall Number One?

Brian helped me tear a bit of the drywall out today.  It appeared that there may be water damage in the wall.  Good News!  So far everything is looking nice and dry!  We are going to pull out the drywall completely on this wall and in a few patches on the other walls.  I am hopeful that we do not find any more surprises, but I am trying to be realistic too.  I am feeling a little less overwhelmed with this project now that we have made the literal dent in the wall.  Stay tuned...

Here's the "dent" in the wall.  Looking good so far!

Reality is setting in...

Today, the full scope of the project Brian and I are about to embark in set in.  We have ripped-up the carpet and started to peel off the wallpaper only to reveal water damage.  I had a drywall installer come-out today.  He has had 20+ years of experience and he said, "You have a big project ahead of you."  He took pity on me and even tried to determine the source of the water.  It appears that we located it above one of the windows, but we will only know for sure after a bit more demo.  That is tomorrow.  Tonight, we are watching the Tigers in the World Series with a glass of wine.
